For families, groups, or couples seeking privacy and space, villa rentals have become one of the most popular ways to experience Istria. The peninsula rural interior is dotted with beautifully restored stone villas, many with private pools and sweeping countryside views.
What Makes Istrian Villas Special
Many of Istria rental villas occupy former farmhouses built of the region distinctive grey-brown limestone. Renovation has combined original stone features with contemporary amenities, creating interiors that feel simultaneously rooted in history and entirely comfortable.
- Private pools set in olive grove gardens
- Stone-built architecture with original features
- Full kitchen facilities for self-catering
- Outdoor dining terraces with valley or sea views
Locations to Consider
The hills around Motovun, Porec, and Rovinj offer the best combination of rural tranquillity and proximity to town. Many villas are within 15 minutes of a coast or hilltop town.
Our villa had views of three hill towns from the terrace. We cooked dinner every night from the market and could not imagine a better base for Istria.
